What would dual language expansion look like?

In an ideal world, all Georgetown ISD schools would offer dual language education from K-12 tomorrow. That's not realistic in terms of curriculum development and teacher recruitment. Let's start small and grow at a manageable pace by starting with one 6th grade cohort in 2026 or earlier. Then add 7th grade the following year, and so forth.

First year

Tippit Middle School is 56% Hispanic. We think that would make a great location for a first cohort.

  • If we can’t have dual language at all schools tomorrow, one cohort at Tippit Middle School is a good compromise. Many dual language campuses already feed into Tippit. After reading about all the benefits of dual language expansion, we hope that students and parents who are not zoned for Tippit would consider bussing to where the cohort is located. It’s worth it for your kids.
